The company

FACTON GmbH supplies software of the same name for Enterprise Product Costing. The company was established in 1998 and is represented in Dresden, Hamburg, Potsdam and Detroit (USA). Since 2006, the innovative company has also been supported by Hasso Plattner, founder and Chairman of SAP AG. The target sector is the automotive industry. Customers include Behr, Magna Powertrain, Porsche, Siemens and Volkswagen. FACTON aims, together with leading consulting firms, to establish a uniform standard in cost management.

FACTON is the leading Enterprise Product Costing solution for the automotive industry. Through enterprise-wide unified product costing, i.e. across departments and locations, FACTON provides high transparency of product costs. FACTON combines the financial view on product costs with the engineers’ technical perspective. Thus, the costs of complex products can be determined at an early stage and throughout the entire product lifecycle. With FACTON, companies accelerate their costing and achieve high cost accuracy.

The FACTON costing solution has been optimized for the demands of automotive and aerospace companies. FACTON® EPC meets furthermore all requirements of manufacturing companies which need to ensure high product cost transparency and manage complex product development processes. Research and Innovations

FACTON GmbH actively pursues knowledge transfer between industry and sciences, between theorie and practice. We continuously expand co-operation between with universities and research institutions to integrate FACTON® EPC in teaching and research. FACTON’s own research projects, co-funded by the European Union, focus on company-wide product costing, information and innovation management.

Funding

Since 2007, FACTON has conducted several research projects in co-operation with the main promotional bank of the State of Brandenburg – InvestitionsBank des Landes Brandenburg. Focusing on company-wide product costing, innovation and information management the projects help to further develop FACTONs core competencies and establish the company in Potsdam.

Since 2008, FACTON is also developing innovative (web-) technologies for its software solution. This project is being co-funded by the European Union´s Social Fund (ESF) as well as the Free State of Saxony and is helping to secure local work places.

The InvestitionsBank des Landes Brandenburg

InvestitionsBank des Landes Brandenburg (ILB) was established on 31 March 1992 as an institute incorporated under public law. As the main promotional institute InvestitionsBank supports the State of Brandenburg and other public authorities in the performance of their tasks. ILB's core business is the promotion of public and private investment projects in trade and industry, the infrastructure and housing construction. In the trade and industry sector we support commercial enterprises, new businesses, the self-employed, farmers and media enterprises.
