FACTON closes global framework agreement with Siemens - 03/08/2012
Siemens extends cooperation with FACTON / Global framework agreement for EPC solutions concluded for the entire group.
Siemens and FACTON will strengthen their cooperation in the coming years. With a global framework agreement for the entire group, Siemens has named FACTON as IT solution in the area of Enterprise Product Costing. This means: All divisions at Siemens can take advantage of the FACTON solution. “The framework agreement simplifies FACTON roll-outs throughout the entire Siemens Group,” emphasized Alexander M. Swoboda, Managing Director of FACTON GmbH. “We view this as proof of the success of our work at Siemens over the past six years and as a source of motivation for the future.”
Siemens has worked with FACTON since 2006, but the Siemens Industry Automation Division’s electronics plant in Amberg did not optimize its costing with FACTON until last year. The EPC software helps the company ensure product cost transparency as early as the development stage. FACTON is used to precisely monitor costs right from the start, making it possible to provide exact statements on profitability early on. Target costs are determined and adherence is monitored on an ongoing basis later on in the life cycle as well.
“We do cost analysis mostly with partners like FACTON.” - 02/08/2012
Siemens PLM Software-CEO Chuck Grindstaff affirms the strategic importance of their partnership with FACTON in the field of enterprise product costing.
Q: I am missing a cost calculation tool tightly integrated in Teamcenter. You know, it is not only about innovation, it's also about margins based on cost transparency during the whole development process.
Grindstaff: We do cost analysis mostly with partners like Facton. We make sure that our data model is sufficiently robust so that we can hook in calculation engines like this for optimizing the lifecycle cost so that we have the whole traceability of the incurred cost. Because the big challenge of cost is: how well do you know it at special gates.
