FACTON 6.1: Web reporting for the ideal overview
Date: 06/01/2011
FACTON offers new version 6.1 / comprehensive Web reporting / analyses and forecasts of costs as the foundation and validation of investment decisions
With version 6.1, FACTON® is now introducing significant extensions to its successful costing software. The most important new feature is flexible Web reporting. For the first time, FACTON® makes it possible to access important costing data from a browser. In practice, this means that controllers, project and product managers, and those responsible for sales and marketing can now call up product costs and key figures quickly and easily using their Internet browser.
“FACTON® 6.1 provides analyses and forecasts much faster,” says Cees van den Hoven, managing director of FACTON. “The reason this comprehensive reporting functionality is so important is that reports are ultimately the basis for investment decisions.” For example, all project versions and their production planning data can be displayed with just a few mouse clicks. By drilling down and using the dynamic filtering feature, users can view data in various levels of detail. This ensures the best possible overview and displays relationships and developments in ways that are easy to understand. “One especially informative type of analysis is a report that shows costs and key figures at certain points in time or over certain periods of time, as in the case of a monthly target cost report,” says van den Hoven.
The new interface in FACTON® 6.1, which provides access to all previously selected costing data, can be used with both Microsoft SQL servers and Oracle databases. Beginning with FACTON® 6.1, costing data is now made available to external systems also through a standardized interface. Reporting solutions like Microsoft SQL Server Reporting Services or SAP NetWeaver can access the data and then easily make it available to portal solutions (e.g., Microsoft SharePoint).
The new version of the software also features optimized investment appraisal: with the new functions for sorting, filtering, and grouping data, it is easy to create overviews of the total investments in the tools department, for example, including all the individual usage references.
FACTON® 6.1 is compatible with Windows 7 and takes advantage of the benefits of Microsoft’s most modern operating system. In addition, the new version is based on the latest Microsoft .NET framework, version 4.0. That makes it possible to better utilize the capacity of computers with multiple processor cores, which greatly increases performance.
