FACTON and arvato Systems form product costing partnership


Partnership to optimize product costing in manufacturing companies / IT-based cost management throughout the entire product life cycle


FACTON, a software firm that offers a product costing software package of the same name, and IT systems integrator arvato Systems have formed an official partnership. Together they will help manufacturing companies improve costing processes and cut product costs.


arvato Systems is now offering FACTON® EPC software as part of its CFO Service initiative to streamline financial processes. FACTON software will supplement the SAP Gold Partner’s existing portfolio with a costing solution that customers can deploy in the earliest stages of development. “In the development phase you lay the groundwork for costs that will be incurred later on,” says Thomas Scharf, Head of CFO Service at arvato Systems. “In order to streamline product costs, companies need to be able to identify target and actual costs early on in the process and keep a steady eye on these factors throughout the entire product life cycle. FACTON has developed a software solution that paves the way to this type of active, consistent cost management.”


FACTON follows what is known as the Enterprise Product Costing (EPC) approach. All cost-relevant information from existing IT systems is consolidated in a central database. This includes bills of materials and purchased parts data from PLM systems as well as labor costs and machine hourly rates from ERP systems such as SAP. Consequently, employees throughout the entire enterprise can perform costing based on uniform data while simultaneously applying standardized calculation and evaluation processes and methods.

FACTON now has a global partner in arvato Systems with locations in Europe, Asia and North America to help boost international sales. The cooperation partners are primarily focused on the industry, electronics, automotive and plant engineering sectors. They have already acquired their first customer, home and building technology specialist Steinel, a company that manufactures outdoor lighting systems with motion sensors along with heating system technology and industrial components.
