FACTON helps our customers optimize costing processes and methods. At first, we evaluate the existing costing procedures, structures, methods, and software solutions to gauge their effectiveness and efficiency. Based on those findings, FACTON shows companies their cost saving potential and helps them to implement the improvements.

For many enterprises, the introduction of an integrated costing software solution is the ideal moment for a thorough evaluation of all existing costing procedures. In this process, FACTON suggests a detailed anaylsis of all established processes and structures, combined with an assessment of all current methods regarding their effectiveness. For this purpose, we review the following issues:

  • Organization of costing departments (centralized or decentralized)
  • How planning, progress monitoring, and exchange of costing figures occurs
  • Use of costing in development, purchasing, and sales departments
  • Inclusion of production and assembly methods in costing schemes
  • Is there an integrated software solution for costing tasks
  • Can costing methods and data collection/maintenance be streamlined
  • How to promote greater cost awareness across the company

FACTON specializes in business consulting for process and method optimization and promotes best practices.

Process optimization projects are carried out in three effective steps.

The level of detail and the duration of each project varies depending on the set goals and scope of the undertaking. Here are the steps FACTON takes in a process optimization project:

  1. Status quo analysis: FACTON specialists evaluate the existing structures, processes and methods using standardized tools and benchmarks. For this purpose, the business consultants might use the tried and tested FACTON benefit analysis tool, which evaluates the strengths and weaknesses at management and operations levels using a detailed questionnaire. FACTON uses a similar approach to assess the current methods and IT systems.
  2. Workshops for the definition of targets: The results of the status quo analysis are discussed with the client in workshops in order to identify the desired state. Based on the objectives, the team defines and prioritizes the necessary next actions.
  3. Identification of measures for improvement: In a third step, FACTON develops the measures to be taken to achieve the set goals. In this process, the team quantifies the cost savings and draws up an implementation plan in cooperation with the client.

A joint steering committee finally approves the measures for implementation. Upon request, FACTON also implements the improvement measures.
