FACTON EPC integrates the costing method of the system operator in a central calculation tool. This means that the operator can perform all its costing tasks in an optimised and customised manner. FACTON EPC serves as the centralised information and data pool for the analysis of the commercial viability of products or projects. The cost and profit accounts of parts, assemblies, products, or even complete projects are compiled by means of the standardised calculation tool of FACTON EPC. The system thus uses a uniform costing layout that includes all relevant cost elements (cost types).

Structured costing layout

Cost calculations performed in FACTON EPC are structured hierarchically based on a structural parts list and displayed in the form of tree layouts. The main costing elements are: purchased (standardised) parts, manufactured parts, raw materials, work schedules including production processes (production steps), auxiliary costs (e.g. tooling, development costs), and assemblies. The assemblies serve as the structuring elements for the calculation and allow for customised costing charts, for example, based on standard kits.

 

Users can thus perform their cost calculations on the basis of a detailed parts list. Alternatively, they might opt for rough estimates based on the underlying structures. The individual cost schemes are saved in a directory tree structure, and are included in the integrated versioning function so that they are included in the history and can be revised at any stage.

Central master data management

All master data to be used in cost calculations is stored in FACTON and is automatically updated as required. Such data includes, for example, overhead costs, currency exchange rates, material prices, tariffs for machines and labour, etc. FACTON does away with the maintenance of master data in different files, or time-consuming manual input. It also prevents employees from inadvertently using different data or outdated figures in their costing. Any additional information that is required can be added easily and at any time. For this purpose, the software comes with standard import interfaces, and also supports manual data input and updating.

In order to perform repeat cost calculations at the push of a button, FACTON EPC automatically synchronises the databases. It is up to the user to decide when and how often this is done. Changes made to the data used in a calculation can always be traced.

Unrivalled flexibilit

By recombining the parts list elements and thanks to the free configuration of the application, FACTON EPC product and project costings can be performed equally efficiently for any chosen product – from vacuum cleaners and motor vehicles to gas turbines. There are no limits as regards the number and levels of the costing elements. The actual costing method, level of detail, and the various views and output options are individually configured to suit the needs of the software operator.
